Whatever is ailing you, there's an herb for that!

Once upon a time, it was the norm to visit your village herbalist. They would create a concoction specifically for you and have you back to health shortly. There is an herb for any issue; they can do so much for us. While herbs can have a well-known action on the body, their genetic makeup is unique giving them differing personalities. Herbalists can find the right herb for the right person. So while turmeric, ginger, cayenne, and others are all considered anti-inflammatory; turmeric is drying, bitter, antioxidant, wound healing, and supports the liver/gallbladder part of the digestive system. Ginger is in the same plant family as turmeric but has a lower digestive system affinity and helps with nausea, gas, stomachaches, while heating and makes the body sweat and salivate. Cayenne is stimulating, dilates blood vessels to support circulation, is antimicrobial, and calms the brain.

Scientists (ethnobotanists) have, in the past and present, looked towards indigenous cultures around the world for plants that are used to support well-being, as well as traditional ethnobotanical uses within the tribes. This is how a lot of current prescriptions drugs were discovered and then later, synthesized in a lab. From all over the world, plants are the oldest form of medicine. They goes back thousands of years old, dating back to 2800 BC.

Today most things are cheaply made and processed from or with unnatural chemicals that are damaging our insides. We would like to return to the earth and nature. To recreate and revel in a time where plants could tell us how they help us heal and we can use the gifts mother nature gave us, and that surround us for common ailments. We'd like to bring life back to these times, notice the beauty and energy around us, while embracing nature and steward it for generations to come.

HERBAL CONSULTATIONS

Herbal Consultations are available to clients one-on-one by appointment with Wild Rose Healing's founder, Lina Watanabe, in-person or as an video appointment. In the initial 1.5 hour appointment, she will go over the client's health concerns with a fine tooth comb. We don't just talk physical issues, we look at the whole body wholistically: mind, body, and soul. The client's personal goals will be established in the consultation. Lina will then work on a personalized holistic protocol that can include some of the following:

  • herbal format suggestions (tinctures, teas, oils, etc.)

  • herbal or dietary supplement recommendations

  • nutritional recommendations

  • referrals to other types of practitioners

  • lifestyle suggestions

All questions will be addressed regarding any part of the protocol or any concerns that arose in the consultation. A 30 minute follow-up appointment will be scheduled to see how the protocol is supporting the client's progress and adjustments made as needed. All consultations will be individualized to the client's own needs.

It also benefits those who are frustrated with the western medicine model and want to focus on preventative care, while looking for more natural suggestions for their ailments. When there are small imbalances that are left over time, the creation of deep seated ailments commence, making time of the essence. An herbal consultation assists those who aspire to have better general health or want to make a change in their life, and especially those that crave to use more natural products and choose more supportive lifestyle changes. Although we can support any issue, Lina is especially knowledgeable with the digestive system, hormonal issues, stress and anxiety, as well as pain management.

I already see a naturopath, why should i see an herbalist?

We think you should see both! Naturopaths are a wealth of information and helpful to get to the root of disease instead of only treating symptoms. They have a full medical school education, can diagnosis, prescribe medicines, run tests, and do exams. Properly trained herbalists have a thorough introduction to foundations such as anatomy & physiology, disease processes, microbiology, chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, and more. Herbalists have a focus on herbs; their chemical makeups, how they work in the body, how the body breaks them down, their medicinal actions, interactions with prescription drugs, and more. It is important for you to see a naturopath or medical doctor, to arrive at a diagnosis. With this diagnosis, an herbalist can discuss different preparations of herbs that can support your body and the work of your doctor. It's like consulting with an herb specialist!

HERBAL CONSULTATIONS & REIKI COMBO

To experience the full scope of healing support, Lina offers a back-to-back herbal consultation and an Reiki energy work session in an 1.5 to 2 hour appointment. The the second hour is spent using Reiki to reduce stress and clear blocked or stagnant energy. The combination of these appointments together supports the client fully in mind, body, and spirit and allow the body to begin to unfold and awake its innate ability to heal itself.
